Charles Earl Lasyone, age 78 of Dodson, La passed from this life on November 3, 2022, in Alexandria, La following a brief illness.

Earl was born on September 23, 1944, in Winnfield, to the union of Jewel Roosevelt and Rosie Alice Bratton Lasyone. He is the last surviving child of Jewel and Rosie.

Inducted into the Louisiana Logger's Association Hall of Fame in 2012, Earl was a log cutter for 50 years. When he wasn't practicing the lost art of cutting timber, Earl was likely to be found cruising a tract of timber or enjoying a cup of coffee telling a story about hunting or fishing. Always eager to make others laugh, Earl was well-known for his ability to craft and unbelievably believable story. He loved to run hound dogs chasing after deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, and more.

Earl served the people of Winn Parish, for 16 years during four terms as police juror, serving a stint as Vice President at one point. As juror, Earl secured funds and prioritized work that improved the infrastructure for the people of Winn Parish.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents Jewel and Rosie Lasyone; wife Elizabeth "Betty" Ferreira Lasyone; son Charles Brayn Lasyone; five sisters Pauline Vines, Neather "Nita" Jacobs, Grace Acreman, Patsy Lasyone, and Eunice Taylor; three brothers Pinkey Lasyone, Waylon Lasyone, and Charlie Burel Lasyone, his twin; and grandson Heath Snowden.

Earl is survived by his daughter Debbie Lasyone Melton of Dodson, La; son Shanon Lasyone and wife Valerie of McPherson Kansas; stepdaughter Lessie House of Edgemont, AR; grandchildren Kelli Melton, Sean Lasyone, Colby Lasyone, Dustin Lasyone, Jennifer Hare, Ashley Henderson, Shane DeViney, and Emma Heir; great-grandchildren Marissa Melton, P.J. Cardoza, and Carter Melton.

The family will receive friends at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, La on Sunday, November 6, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 11:00AM in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Author Robinson and Rev. Rayford Chandler officiating. Earl will be laid to rest at Friendship Cemetery in Sikes, Louisiana along side his parents and other family members.

Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Terry Vines, Hayden Vines, Marissa Melton, Sean Lasyone, Chris Gonzales, and Tommy Edmonds.
