McLouth - Services for James Arthur "Jim" Beerbower, 78, McLouth, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Nellis Funeral Home, Valley Falls. Military Graveside services will conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post No. 3084, V.F.W., at the Valley Falls Cemetery.

Mr. Beerbower died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1993, at his home.

He was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Fort Scott, the son of James W. and Kelley G. Fisk Beerbower. He moved with his parents to the Valley Falls area when he was 6. He attended rural school at Peters Creek, southwest of Valley Falls.

He had lived in Jefferson County most of his life and had lived at the McLouth since 1955. He was a farmer and worked in the tire department of the Lawrence Montgomery Ward for eight years.

He was an Army veteran of World War I, serving in the 6th Armored Infantry Battalion.

He and Maxine Brown married on Dec. 23, 1940, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a brother, Jack Beerbower, Eudora; five sisters, Elsie Abbey, Belton, MO., Norma Smith and Josephine Beerbower, both of Olathe, Dora Wade, Garfield, Ark, and Eva Acree, El Paso, Tex.

Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home. Friends and relatives will meet from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
