Floyd Everett West was born May 10, 1893 in Polk County, Wisconsin to William and Grace (Prouty) West. He moved to a farm about six miles west of Hayti, South Dakota with his family at age seven. He was 5' 8" tall with balck hair and brown eyes.
He married Bertha E Hanson, daughter of Ever and Gurine Hanson on February 2, 1916.
They had five children. Willis LeRoy and Marvin Leslie died at birth. LaVern Lester, Marvin Curits, and Orville Eugene were all born in Hamlin County.
Floyd died on January 4, 1975 in Watertown South Dakota and is buried in New Hope Cemetery in Hamlin County, South Dakota.
