Survivors include two sons, Claude Abeln, Redfield, and Lincoln Abeln, Littleton, CO; three daughters, Amy Abeln, Aberdeen, Molly Abeln, Hermosa, and Renee Abeln, Moorhead, MN; six brothers, and five sisters.

Memorial services were held April 17, 1993 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hermosa, with the Rev. Jim Hanson officiating.
The body was cremated; inurnment at the Bell Park Cemetery near Rochford.
