Fred T. Lanier, 69, died unexpectedly late Thursday afternoon at his residence in Statesboro.

Mr. Lanier was a native and lifelong resident of Statesboro. He was a retired building materials salesman and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie S. Lanier, Statesboro; a daughter, Mrs. Beth Lanier Brown, Savannah; two sisters, Mrs. W. Hubert Amason and Mrs. George C. Hitt Jr., both of Statesboro; a brother, Robert S. Lanier, Statesboro; and a grandson, Yates Russell Brown, Savannah.

The funeral service for Mr. Lanier will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church with Dr. Hugh L. Davis officiating. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.
