Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Jamestown Memorial Building with Walter Jardine, Fargo, in charge. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery. The body is at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Mr. Aarestad was born Oct. 27, 1882, in Norway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Endre Aarestad. He came to the United States in April of 1883 with his parents when they settled at Cooperstown. He received his education in the Griggs County schools and later homesteaded in Wells County. He was married to Serina Tengesdal on Nov. 25, 1911, at Cooperstown and they resided in Griggs county until 1913 when they moved to Foster county where they farmed. In May, 1946, Mr. Aarestad retired from farming and moved into Jamestown and in the same year on Dec. 4 Mrs. Aarestad died. He continued to reside in Jamestown and was married here on Nov. 4, 1948, to Mrs. Bessie Baker who died Aug. 7, 1966.
Mr. Aarestad was employed at the State Hospital from 1950 to 1954.
Survivors include seven children, four sons, Erwin and Selmer, Fargo, Wilfred, Jamestown, and Stanley Aarestad, Watertown, S.D.; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon Hartvikson (Agnes), Jamestown, Mrs. Hilmer Boelter (Esther), Kindred, and Mrs. Orval Sorenson (Mertis), Bagley, Minn.; four stepchildren, Paul Baker, Edmunds; Dale Baker, Yachats, Ore., Kenneth Baker, Cando, and Mrs. Warren Foster (Myra), Seattle, Wash.; 34 grandchildren; and three brothers, Hans Aarestad, Salmon Arm, B.C.; Elmer Aarestad, Aneta, land Casper Aarestad, Cooperstown. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
