Rodger C. Aanderud was July 23, 1932 at Maddock to Harry and Alice Togstad Aanderud. He attended the Hellerud and Bergsgaard country schools and graduated from BCATS at Maddock in 1951. He enlisted in the Navy in 1952. He married Elizabeth Ormand in 1953 at Alameda, Calif. Following his honorable discharge in November of 1956 they returned to North Dakota where he was employed at lumberyards in Maddock, Churchs Ferry, Leeds, Thief River Falls, Minn. and Lamb Brothers in Michigan. He also was the janitor at the Michigan Mall for a number of years. She died in 1998 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
He was a member of the Michigan Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Churchs Ferry and Michigan Fire Departments. He was also a 50-year member of the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, especially to museums and places of history. He enjoyed restoring antique furniture and visiting thrift stores.
Survivors include his two sons, Michael Aanderud of Mesa, Ariz. and Lee Aanderud of Lexington, SC; two daughters, Donna (Allan) Popowski of Devils Lake and Amanda (Charles) Perkins of Portland, Ore., three grandchildren; a sister, Dallas (Harold) Berglund of Cavalier; and a brother, David (Kay) Aanderud of Seaford, Del.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and an infant daughter, Arlene.
