Mrs. Ritter was born April 2, 1909, in Wathena, the daughter of Edward and Emma Lydia Haupt Engeman. She was a lifelong resident of Wathena and a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wathena; St. Ann's Altar Society of the church; and the American Legion Auxiliary, Wathena.
She married Joseph Ritter on Nov. 28, 1944 in Wathena. He preceded her in death in 1955.
Mrs. Ritter was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ritter in 1976; a brother, Victor Engeman; and two sisters, Clara Irene Benitz and Marie E. Holaday.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Ritter, Merriam, KS.; a daughter, Justina Sparks, Merriam, KS.; a sister, Luetta Abbett, Wathena; a brother, Lloyd Engeman, Wathena; and a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wathena. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wathena. Father Jude Burbach, O.S.B. officiated.
Pallbearers were Ronald Benitz, Tony Libel, Louis Long, Mike Boos, Al Abbett, Maurice Stickler.
