He lived in this area all his life and attended Elm Flatt School near Ada, OK. He lived on his original Chickasaw allotment south of Ada, OK. He owned Abbott Nursery since 1956. Mr. Abbott was an original member of the People's Electric Cooperative, serving from 1951 to 1981.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church. On March 2, 1924, he and Ruby Elmore were married. She passed away on September 11, 1992, in Ada, OK.
Survivors include three sons, Rev. Barney Abbott and Joe Kent Abbott all of Ada, OK., six sisters, Lillie Bradshaw, Rachel Aday, Myrtle Cooper, Mary Camden, Carolyn Aday, all of Ada, OK; and LaVada Mshsn, Lumberton, TX; two brothers Monroe Abbott and Kenneth Abbott both of Ada, OK; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
