On June 2, 1934 he was married to Opal Newsam at Pierre and they had three children.
He worked for Chicago North Western Railroad for a few years and then farmed north of Murdo until 1958, when the family moved to Murdo. He was employed by the Murdo Oil Company, the Milwaukee Railroad, the Murdo Elevator and the city of Murdo. Beginning in 1968 he was a freight agent for the Barber Transportation Company.
Survivors are his wife, two sons cliff and Dough, two sisters Alvilda and Ethel; two brothers Olaf and Haakon; seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, one sister and four brothers.
