Mrs. Abbett was born on Aug. 31, 1914 in Wathena. A lifelong resident, she worked for the Big Smith Co. in St. Joseph.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Wathena and the South Park Rebecca Lodge in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Abbett was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. in 1986; her parents, Edward and Emma Engeman; a brother, Victor Engeman; and three sisters, Evalena Ritter, Marie Holaday and Irene Benitz.
Surviving: a son, Al, Platte City, Mo., and a brother, Lloyd Engeman, Wathena.
